The name behind the name
Hello, I'm Pippa Bilby.
Marketing and communications professional, founder of SANDRINE — and someone who has literally always seen her middle name in green.
Why Sandrine?
A name I've always seen in green.
Marketing wasn't something I discovered later in life. I grew up in a family of advertising professionals, so falling in love with it was less a decision than an inevitability. As a kid I tagged along to shoots on the days I couldn't attend day care, and to art galleries at the weekend — so it was the family language long before it was a career, and a genuinely creative space to grow up in.
Sandrine is my middle name — and I have synaesthesia, which means my brain pairs words and names with colours, whether I ask it to or not. For as long as I can remember, Sandrine has been green. Not vaguely greenish. Properly, unmistakably green.
Which is convenient, because green has always been my favourite colour — and it happens to be the colour of growth. Of things tended properly, given the right conditions, and allowed to become something. That's not a bad way to think about marketing.
The name itself traces back to the Greek Alexandra — "defender" or "protector". I like that too. Good marketing should defend a business from wasted spend, borrowed ideas and content that exists for no reason.
So SANDRINE is green, it grows things and it protects them. The brand chose itself, really. I just gave it a website.

And on the side
Social media, since 2018
Alongside the jobs, I've always run my own social media as a hobby. Since 2018 that's meant paid and gifted partnerships with a wide range of brands — which has given me a first-hand read on how the social world actually works: what people stop for, what they scroll straight past, and what makes a partnership worth doing for both sides.
